Holidays!

An odd start to work today: a fellow came in to upgrade the memory on the server. However, I wasn't told he was coming, nor had I been given the memory card -- so he couldn't do anything anyway. He came to my workplace at 7:30: and of course I wasn't here. I had put my car in for a service: and then had gone and left my mobile on the courtesy bus to the station. Meanwhile, the fellow had spoken to someone here who tried to call me: and they got a staff member at the car service place who had been given my mobile. I arrived in at 8:15, to find him here, and to hear the tale of miscommunication.

Tomorrow (7th) morning I fly up to Brisbane, the capital city of the state of Queensland, and then I head out to Charleville. For my international readers, Brisbane is about 750km north of Sydney and Charleville is about 750km west of Brisbane. I'll return to Brisbane on Wednesday the 12th and come back to Sydney on the evening of Monday the 17th.

I'm greatly looking forward to the holiday: I have never been to Charleville, and I've never had the chance to explore Brisbane. I do have relatives there and at the Gold Coast, but holidays when I was younger were always been spent around the Gold Coast -- generally at one of the theme parks.

Great and profuse thanks must go to shipmate Foaming Draught and his wife Clarence for not only allowing me to stay with them for some of my time in Brisbane, but also driving me to and from Charleville. It will be a long drive, but with them it is assured of being great fun. I'll also be staying for two nights with a friend who has moved up to Brisbane: it will be great to see her and her fiancé again.

Meeting various Shipmates will also be great fun: renewing acquaintances with ones I've met and meeting a whole lot more. And staying with Zappa and kuruman in Charleville will be great fun. If you are in Charleville (unlikely, perhaps: but you never know) or Brisbane, take a look at this thread for meet information. And I'll also hopefully meet Pistevo at an Orthodox Liturgy.

See you all when I get back.
