Thanks for the welcomes back! It is wonderful to return to this blogging community.

The current troubles in the Middle East were brought that little bit closer to home tonight: speaking to my sponsor I found out that a parishioner and dear friend is one of the 25,000 Australians trapped in Lebanon. I thought that parishioners and friends may have relatives there: but I didn't know a dear friend was there. While you remember all of those affected, could you especially remember George S.? It does feel odd asking for prayer for one person, but I hope you can understand.

And of course we remember those affected by the tsunami in Java, by the floods in China, and all those in need, wherever they may be.

Be mindful, O Lord, of those who travel by land, and sea, and air; of the young and the old; orphans and widows; the sick and the suffering; the sorrowing and the afflicted, all captives, and the needy poor; upon them all send forth Your mercies, for You are the Giver of all good things.
