Matins Gospel: Luke 24:36-53
Epistle: Romans 12:6-14
Gospel: Matthew 9:1-8
Today's Gospel reading was on Christ's healing of the paralytic. The sermon was on the Epistle reading, however: Fr John gave a good sermon on the need for us to look at the gifts we have been given by God and to use them in the context of the church and the world. He also made the point that there are gifts we have not been given: and if we are in a ministry that we are not suited to, we should acknowledge we do not have talents there and allow someone else to take on this ministry who has the necessary gift: and then we look for something that uses the gifts we have. A timely reflection for me as I consider not only my future but what I can do as part of my Christian life to help others.
Today was also the commemoration of the Prophet Ezekiel.
Some good news, in part, regarding my friend and our beloved parishioner: I believe he made it back to Sydney last night, thanks be to God. His parents and a sister are still over there: may God bless and protect them. And may He protect all in the middle of this terrible conflict. Lord, have mercy.
It was a blessing to be back 'home' with my brothers and sisters: while I had a wonderful time away, I did miss them: and it was nice to be told I was missed also. God has graciously given me a home in a wonderful parish, full of loving people who always take a deep interest in each other. I am truly blessed: thanks and praise be to the thrice-blessed Trinity for such blessings.
