Very Hound of the Baskervilles driving home tonight: a deep fog had closed in. I do love the fog, though: the deep fogs and chill-in-the-air down here will be something I miss when I move. Yes, I am on the move again. My lease expires in about a month and after six months here I've realised, at this point in my life, living closer to friends, family and church, living closer to work, and living closer to institutions where I can do the various evening courses I love to throw myself into is a good thing. It has been fun, though: I've met some very nice people and I've discovered a lot of great bushwalking tracks that I'm sure I will return to.
I caught up with my sister and niece tonight: such good fun. My niece is now two days off being a year-and-a-half (the time has flown) and I am constantly amazed at the changes from fortnight to fortnight. She is increasing her vocabulary at a rapid rate: she can now say "Ian", which makes me very happy :), and animals and animal sounds seem to be her favourite subject matter at the moment. If you give her an animal name or point to a picture of an animal, she will make the noise of the animal! It's so cute. I never tired of going through animals -- and neither did she.
She also likes to have a bash at the piano, and she enjoys playing with the Magnetic Animal Set I bought her: as well as putting the animals in, she likes pressing the frog with his banjo as he plays a selection of songs: at which point she dances and spins around until she falls over dizzy! :)
They will be in Canberra this Friday and Saturday, and be having a quick trip to see the snow Friday also, and by a happy coincidence so will I: there's a shipmeet happening and I'll be catching up with fellow wiblogger and dear friend Singing Semele. I shall head down Friday night and make a weekend of it. Saturday morning I'll visit, with my sister, brother-in-law and niece, the National Zoo & Aquarium which will be good fun as I love zoos and aquariums anyway, but especially fun because of my niece. I'm very much looking forward to this weekend.
