As per my last post, thanks be to God I have 3 interviews next week. Actually, all 3 are on Wednesday, April 4. And the morning of that day. And the job locations are separated by hundreds of kilometres. Here is how it all happened...
On March 11 I applied for 4 positions, a Technology Support Officer in High Schools, in 4 different schools: one in Sydney, Dulwich Hill, and three in regional NSW: Narromine [~450 km NW of Sydney], Tenterfield [~700 km north of Sydney] and Casino -- named for a property after Cassino (near Monte Cassino) in Italy, not the gambling! -- [~715 km north-and-a-bit east of Sydney]. I looked to regional NSW as I have been considering a move as part of a change in life; but there is much to consider there.
Last Friday I received a call from the principal of Tenterfield High saying I have made the interview process. I thought I'd like another short break so I organised an in-person half-hour interview for 10:30am on Wednesday, April 4.
Just before lunch yesterday, where I met a friend from my previous job (who is one of the best friends one could ever hope to have, and who helped me enormously through my struggles and who helped me get to the stage of preparation and confidence where I can interview), I received a call offering me an interview position for Narromine High School on Wednesday, April 4, at 11:45. As it is a 658km drive from Tenterfield to Narromine, I said I was sorry but could not interview as I already had an interview a long way away on that day. After hanging up, I thought: 'Hang on, should I have asked if I could do it via phone?'; so, hoping I did not come across as an idiot, I called back. She was was very happy to arrange an interview via video conference or phone (I am seeing if I can organise a video conference through Tenterfield TAFE [technical/vocational training institute] or a laptop...).
That afternoon I received a call about my Casino High School application: I made it through to the interview process. Again, there was a conflict with time. Given it's just less than 130 km drive from Tenterfield to Casino, I said I could make the afternoon: but there were no appointments then. The lady suggested 9am by telephone as I sounded 'very keen to interview for this position': and we booked it in.
It will be a busy Wednesday morning!
Also, after receiving a call Thursday, yesterday morning I went to a recruitment agency about another job they are putting my resume in for, and was told I had great experience and a great passion which shone through. I need to work on my eye contact, and I pray that comes with time.
Whatever happens, (1) I have 3 interviews!, plus the potential of another; (2) it will be great experience for me; (3) it will be a nice and relaxing drive up to Tenterfield and back, visiting my sister, brother-in-law and nieces on the way back; and (4) my passion and personality shine through in person and on the phone it appears from comments by people which I am thankful for.
Thanks and praise be to our ever-blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for his loving kindness towards me. And thanks and praise to God, who is wondrous in His Saints; and wondrous Saints to whom I have cried out to help during Great Lent, and for wisdom in job searching, including St John Climacus; St Mary of Egypt; St George; St John the Forerunner (Baptist); and of course the Blessed and Ever-Virgin Theotokos; and -- as I wrote yesterday -- thank you to all of you, saints on earth, whom I am blessed to know and to whom I ofer thanks in which words seem inadequate: you have helped me immensely through their comments, encouragement, suggestions and being with me on my many journeys. Thank you.
