Troparion of the Feast: Hieromartyr Anthimus
As a sharer of the ways and a successor to the throne of the Apostles, O inspired of God, you found discipline to be a means of ascent to divine vision. Wherefore, having rightly divided the word of truth, you did also contest for the Faith even unto blood, O Hieromartyr Anthimus. Intercede with Christ our God that our souls may be saved.

Troparion of the Resurrection: [Tone 3]
Let the heavens rejoice and let the earth be glad; for the Lord has shown the strength of His arm. By death He has destroyed death, and has become the First-born from the dead. He has delivered us from the depths of Hell, and has given to the whole world His abundant mercy.

Today we remember Hieromartyr Anthiumus, who truly has an amazing story: the Emperor sent soldiers to search for him and arrest him, and when they found him Anthimus accepted them as guests and fed them. On his way to his martyrdom, which consisted of tortures and his beheading, the soldiers were converted by his words. Thanks and praise be to God.

Today is also Fathers' Day here in the land of Oz: I'll be heading over to my parents' place for an afternoon bbq in an hour or so. Yesterday was my parents' 34th anniversary, and in a week-and-a-bit it is my mum's birthday: a busy time of year. I decided to get them one gift for all three celebrations: tickets to Cirque du Soleil's Varekai, which is currently in Sydney. I hope they enjoy it.

And to all fathers out there, as we say in Orthodoxy, God grant you many, many years!
