Saturday Brunch: Rashay's

I skipped breakfast and walked down to Rashay's for brunch. I'd been, many years ago, to their old café -- which has now been demolished, along with a few other buildings, so that the local shopping centre could expand: generally with friends from church on a Friday night. Good times.

They now have two cafés, both within walking distance of me. I went to the closest one, again with The Brothers Karamazov in my hand, and had some pancakes, drenched with sweet, sweet, maple syrup, and cream, and a nice, and strong, flat white. Their menu seems to have expanded in the few years since my last visit: I may pop in for lunch or dinner. Though with Gemelle's just around the corner, I think I may go there first.

My New Coffee Maker
I also, thanks to a sale at a local homeware shop, have some new things for the kitchen. I have a new coffee maker after breaking the plunger a while back: I bought a Bialetti Moka Express and am looking forward to a nice strong cup of coffee each morning. And, after using the same basic set since July 2001, which after numerous moves has various parts chipped or broken, I now have a full complete dining set as I also bought, on sale, a Maxwell Williams dinner set -- and got a nice teapot thrown in as well. Sales are wonderful things.
