First: a return to the local council gym/pool, after a break of far too many weeks. Of course, the class times have changed, though I wasn't expecting what was actually on at 15:30 yesterday: Revolution Cycle. A class where, to music, you ride exercise bikes, increasing the resistance and moving between sprints, slow cycles and even getting up off your seat and peddling. To be honest, it was rather enjoyable, and I think I may go back. My legs are not thanking me for it today, however; though that probably goes to show I should get out on my bike a bit more.
Second: a return to my parish last night for Great Vespers. I was, once, in the deep dark past lost in the mists of time, a regular worshipper at this service but, much like the gym, you miss one week, then another, and another -- and then you are not going at all. I do hope to change this; one as Vespers is one of my most beloved services, with the many Psalms [in full and in extracts] and the many beautiful prayers; second, as it is good for my spiritual life; and third, as I often have to dash off [either due to commitments, or when my anxiety rears its head] after Sunday's service, the smaller numbers on Saturday evening mean I am not as anxious and can spend some time talking and catching up with various other parishioners. A nice comment from one of the elder Arabic ladies last night, "You know all the words to the service...and you say them loud -- that is beautiful."
And, on another topic, with two assignments' due dates drawing close, and a 25 minute presentation on Tuesday night, it may be good if I could also return to some study! But not before I see Persepolis: got to get one's priorities right! :)
