As this report states, one person has died, a motorcyclist when his bike was struck by a tree, and a number of houses have been destroyed as fire, fanned by winds that reached up to 100km/hr, swept through. Wollondilly is the shire I lived in before I moved up to Sydney again, though the town I was in, Bargo, seems to have been spared the damage that Picton experienced.
Please remember those who who have lost a loved one, those whose homes have been destroyed, and the brave firefighters who are doing all they can to prevent further loss of life and property: they truly are great men and women.
