I'm rather sad it's over: I truly loved this class. Eight weeks is not enough. Though I suppose it has got me thinking of inflicting pain upon my neighbours by picking up an instrument: we'll see how that goes.

To conclude, we looked at orchestration, and then, to sum up what we learned, we listened to Chinese Dance from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite and looked at the various aspects of it: pitch, rhythm, instruments, melody, texture, etc. The final part of the lesson, the course, was listening to Gershwin's An American in Paris, looking at the various changes in it -- our teacher had written up a list of what was happening at each point in time, which she scrolled through while we listening to it. A very pleasant end to a very pleasing course.
