Thank you for all the kind comments on the post below; much appreciated.
No news on my second niece as yet; mum was due Tuesday and is off to the obstetrician this afternoon.
A colleague gave me three Golden Books for Skye, which have added to the five or so I have already brought her and the three I have in my cupboard to give to her for Christmas. I loved the Golden Books when I was young, The Poky Little Puppy and Tootle being two I remember fondly. I took The Saggy Baggy Elephant to my sister's place yesterday, and after playing her current favourite game, My Little Pony Memory Game [at which she is rather good], I read her The Saggy Baggy Elephant before leaving for triva -- where we came a respectable second.
She enjoyed the story, and we all did the elephant's one-two-three-kick dance around the house; I thought she may get a bit worried about the crocodile and lion wanting to eat the elephant, but this was not the case. In fact, rather matter-of-factly, she stated to me in no uncertain terms that the crocodile and tiger were silly as elephants are much bigger than they are and an elephant would fit in their mouths.
[I did not feel it was my place to go into tearing bits of flesh off as yet. :)]
I am also charging through books -- and even buying more books when I still have many unread. Last night, having three 25% off vouchers, I went to the bookstore and bought Where is the Green Sheep? by Australian children's author Mem Fox for Skye, St Athanasius' Life of St Anthony and a book on world languages and linguistics [the name of which I have forgotten] for myself.
I have just finished the absolutely hilarious Discworld novel Witches Abroad: a superb story, in fact I think my favourite Discworld novel so far, where fairy tales, slightly twisted, are used in an absolutely hilarious and engaging story. I am now dipping in and out of In Other Words: A Language Lover's Guide to the Most Intriguing Words Around the World and reading The English Language. And, as well as my going through a chapter of the Gospels each night, I am reading the interesting and informative St. Paul's Epistle to the Romans: A Pastoral Commentary by Archbishop Dmitri. I hope to share some snippets from these soon.
I do need to do some reading on Project Management for my course: this weekend perhaps.
