Yum!

An absolutely scrumptious dinner tonight: and, with the beginning of the Nativity Fast tomorrow [more on that in an entry to follow] (which I had forgotten about until this afternoon!), I certainly had a very pleasant 'last' meal.

If I were to say we had venison, you may think we went to a rather swank place -- but no, it is one of the many Vietnamese restaurants in Canley Vale, a suburb in the south-west of Sydney, near Cabramatta, that have such delights at extremely reasonable prices. We bbqed our venison on a charcoal fire that was brought to our table, and wrapped it in rice paper, with all manner of vegetables, and pineapple and banana [dried]. Yum. So good in fact we ordered another one. We also had the most wondrous salt and pepper calamari: I'm not big on seafood, but this was very, very good. Mine was washed down with a coconut juice -- one of my favourite drinks -- and tea. It was wonderful to catch up with my cousin, and her four year old daughter: who seems to have taken to me which is rather nice. I do have to get up to northern Queensland one day and visit: God willing next year.
