Troparia:
The pious Joseph, having brought down Your pure body from the Tree,
wrapped it in fine linen, embalmed it with ointment,
provided for it, and laid it in a new tomb.
But You did truly rise, after three days, O Lord,
granting the world Great Mercy.
Truly, the angel came to the tomb and said to the ointment-bearing women,
The ointment is meet for the dead,
but Christ is shown to be remote from corruption.
But cry you, "The Lord is risen, granting the world the Great Mercy."
Today is the Sunday of the Holy Myrrhbearing Women and Ss Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus in the Orthodox Church. We are still chanting "Christ is risen from dead, trampling down death by death, and on those in the tombs bestowing life!", Pascha still illuminating the services of the Church. Another hymn, from Matins, the Paschal
Exapostilarion was a joy to hear:
Hear the voice of gladness, O women;
for I have trodden down rebellious Hades, and raised the world from corruption.
Wherefore, hasten you and proclaim the glad tidings to my beloved;
for I desire that joy shall break forth thence upon my creation,
whence first came forth sorrow.
As I am helping out with readings during Matins, I was there nice and early, but as soon as Matins ended I rushed home, not attending the Divine Liturgy. As filled with blessing the past 2 days have been, in terms of social interaction with friends and family, I am so physically and mentally drained, and with the Betrothal Service to head off to shortly I just needed to be alone, as terrible as that may sound [for I do not like to absent myself from the Divine Liturgy, for while I may not be focused entirely, I feel being there brings much comfort and support]. There is a bring-a-plate reception after the Betrothal Service , but I feel as if I just need to come back home and be alone.
I will write more when I return, for I feel some expression may assist me.
A blessed Feast Day to all!
Christ is Risen!
