Last night I went to my first ever Pub Trivia competition at the Ettamogah Pub [a chain of pubs based on the cartoons by Ken Maynard] at Rouse Hill, in Sydney's north-west. My manager goes there almost every Thursday with friends, and asked if I'd be interested: and I was happy to give it a go.
What fun. The pub is an interesting place in itself, and quite busy, and the trivia was great fun. It's free, but there are prizes [money to spend at the club] handed out at the end. You also get a Freddo Frog if, not knowing an answer, you put down something humorous -- we got one for putting "bisexy" as we had no idea what a six letter word beginning with b was that means made of two parts: the answer, "binary" -- you'd think I'd know that being in IT, but for the life of us we couldn't think of it [nor could anyone else]. We came second, which isn't too bad at all. There are breaks between the three rounds, while scores are counted, so you can grab some food or drink. As well, if you participate in trivia, you get $5- off a meal from the pub: and the servings are huge! And I mean huge.
Looking forward to the next time already.
