St Benedict of Nursia

Today is, in the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Feast Day of St Benedict of Nursia (our Western brothers and sisters celebrate his feast on July 11).
St Benedict is a Saint whose life and teaching have had a great influence on me: as have the monastic communities that bear his name. If you do not know about his life, and that of his sister, Saint Scholastica, I can well recommend a reading of their lives and of St Benedict's Rule.
