I cannot swing a hula-hoop. Not at all.
My niece was given one [far too big for her as yet...] for not wetting the bed for a few days in a row. It is a very bright pink one with sparkly-things, and she loves it. When I visited my my sister, brother-in-law, Skye and Eden Thursday, her dad brought one home and she was so happy to have it and show it off. I tried to give a demonstration, but it just fell. I tried again. Same thing. Any hip movement I may've once had is now gone. So I showed her how to "skip" with it, which she picked up quickly [particularly as the hula-hoop was significantly larger than her], and then we pretended she was a lion [? -- she is into lions at the moment] at the circus and she jumped through it.
Skye has sadly also been a bit sick. Thank you all for the wishes for my recovery below, by the way. I am feeling a bit better, thanks be to God. The rain came yesterday, and is continuing heavy today: God willing, that will clear the air [some very nasty, and long-staying, bugs have been doing the rounds], as well as bringing refreshment to a dry and thirsty land and filling our creeks, rivers, lakes and dams. Back to Skye [I warn you to skip to the next paragraph if you are eating...], she was over last night and she rushed off to the bathroom. I walked by and saw her standing there. I asked if she was alright, she looked at the toilet and let forth with a gush of vomit that looked as if it came straight from a fireman's hose. I ran to her and she continued. She was brave though, and seemed more concerned with the fact we needed to clean it up than her well-being. Poor munchkin. I hope that she brought up whatever was making her sick and is better.
I nursed young Eden last night too. Her eyes were open and she was glancing around taking it all in. Skye came up and was touching her: she is a good help, but I could see a bit of jealousy which is natural. I continue to make a fuss over Skye and play with her a lot and she seems happy enough and knows she is loved. With Eden, I will confess, big softie I am, tears were rolling down my cheek, as they did with Skye when I nursed her, as I cuddled, rocked and spoke to her. Such tiny fingers, such tiny feet, such tiny everything...and so cute and precious. A great blessing indeed.
I will be seeing them again tonight. Father's Day is tomorrow here and, as my dad is working tomorrow, we will be taking him and my brother-in-law out for dinner tonight. Together we bought a new bbq for my dad, which he has seen as we had nowhere to hide it so it was in the garage. It did sit there for a few days, covered, before he noticed though. I also bought dad a Newtown Jets Centenary Polo Shirt. The Newtown Jets no longer play First Grade Rugby League, but they were dad's favourite team when they did and I thought he may like this.
Early September is in fact a time of much celebration; as well as Father's Day, we have my mum and dad's anniversary [2nd; 36 years this year], my mum's birthday [12th; 59 years], and my sister and brother-in-law's anniversary [13th; 5 years]. For my parent's anniversary, after being told constantly they wanted nothing, I decided to update their rather-old dinnerware with two sets [4 in each pack; we need up to 6 or 7 so 8 it was] of the Corelle Square 'Simple Lines' range which my mum was very pleased with. I also bought my mum, as part of an early birthday present [clothing to come, which is what she asked for after my constant badgering and her saying, "Save your money" -- parents, huh? I can earn more than them, but I still have to save my money while they are happy to buy things for me], a "Welcome" outdoor piece[*] with 3 Frogs to replace a similar one she bought that I ran over -- I will say that my mum putting it where I park my car was probably not the best location, but I thought I owed her a new one. My sister and brother-in-law are currently looking at where they want to stay for a weekend away which will be my present for their anniversary. As I wrote, early September is a busy and celebratory time.
[*] I am sure there is a name for these [apart from "kitsch" :) -- just joshing mum :)], but I cannot for the life of me think of it currently.
