Second at trivia last night (having a particularly cracking third and final [the most difficult] round!). My manager is away on a conference in the US, but we actually increased our team numbers as the sister and niece and nephew of one of her friends came along. [As an aside, my manager brings her own pencils, eraser and sharpener, despite the fact pens are provided: in case we want to change an answer. She called work yesterday and I told her, in conference with her friends, we'd be using pens while she's away. She didn't seem impressed. :)]
The special topic, that is, every fifth question, was on capital cities: something I was rather good at amazingly. I knew the capitals of Finland, Austria and somewhere else I've now forgotten (1 point each), Iceland, Norway (2 points each) and Ethiopia (3 points); knew which country Santiago was the capital of [Chile] (2 points); and a team member knew Zagreb was the capital of Croatia (2 points) -- but, and this is where Deeleea should look away, we, I, got the capital of New Zealand wrong! As the compere said, who happens to come from NZ also, you know the capitals of Ethiopia and Iceland, but not your nearest neighbour! I also didn't know what Gaborone (3 points) was the capital of -- I wrote Gabon quickly (as it was the last question and in the event of a tie it is whoever gets their sheet back first who gets a higher place): it is Botswana, but my ignorance is probably not as shocking as not knowing our nearest neighbour's capital.
I'm going to print some large A3 posters next week before I go with Wellington on them in a large font and take them with me.
