In short: sick, assignment, feeling better, back to uni.
The expanded version:
After my adventures with a cold last week, I was feeling a bit better over the weekend. Until Monday: I started feeling a bit ill. Then a lot ill. A gastric bug of some description that had me worshipping at the porcelain throne. On Tuesday morning, after a restless night, I felt a bit better so I plodded off to work. Feeling horrid by the end of the day, I gave uni a miss Tuesday night while my stomach remained restless.
Today, Wednesday: feeling much better.
I had an assignment due tonight. I, perhaps foolishly, had the grand idea on the weekend of changing it around as I thought it may sound better. Of course, once I did so, I was not so sure and wondered if it should go back. I left it. To put this in context however, it was only a 1,000 word maximum report. While that is the kind of thing one might see on an entry of mine here on the Wibsite, so you know I have no trouble bashing it out, it is worth 35% of our total mark. 35%. For 1,000 words. Given, when I had merely described the situation I was getting close to 750 words and only had 250 words for explanations, you can possibly seem my dilemma: was I doing it right? was I doing what was asked for? in fact, what was exactly asked for? It was rather vague. I chopped here and there, expanded there and here, and a MS Word Word Count told me I had 996 words. I read through and did some more trimming, bringing it to around 960. I added some more, couldn't be bothered doing another Word Count, and printed it.
After discussions with fellow students tonight, it became apparent we were all stumbling around and all came around to similar views of what was wanted -- so we are all either right, or horridly wrong. At least we're in it together.
It was good to get back to uni though, after missing last week [and yesterday]. I truly do have great classes with enjoyable topics, plenty of discussion, great fellow-students and great lecturers. It certainly helps with motivation, and I am learning a great deal of not only useful, and interesting, theory but practical advice that I believe will help me in my work.
