The plot: Nicholas Angel, a dedicated -- and over-achieving -- police officer in London is sent by his superiors [as he's too good: he makes the others look bad] to the crime-free village of Sandford, where there hasn't been a murder for twenty-or-so years. His gung-ho go-and-get-em attitude doesn't sit well with the laid-back attitude of the Sanford Police, and he struggles to find his place. However, once he arrives, a number of 'accidents', involving the death of numerous residents begin, and Angel, and his partner, get on the case.

So over-the-top and silly, and yet so absolutely engaging at the same time: and side-splittingly funny -- though also rather gruesome at times, but my lasting impression is one of humour. Recommended.
