On Your Bike

Following the Dutch and the French, my local council launched a "borrow-a-bike" plan yesterday. It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

[And reading the article reminded me how lazy I've been regarding bike riding since the end of daylight savings, it being dark by the time I get home -- I'll have to make better use of the weekend.]

Fairfield City Council does have a good number of walking and bike paths which are in constant use by people of all ages. A PDF of the various paths around Fairfield can be seen here. A number of paths also lead to other council areas and suburbs within Sydney -- either along rivers or creeks or beside railway lines. The few longer rides I've been on have been very enjoyable and once I get riding I enjoy it greatly: it's just getting over my initial inertia, and the allure of a nice warm bed and a book, that is the problem!
