A nice dinner on Tuesday night at Gemelle: it was a working dinner, trying to nut out an issue currently giving us grief. A good night out: and glorious food. After an anti-pasto and bread serving, I had the Funghi Ripieni [mushroom cups filled with pancetta, onion and fresh herbs served in a cheese sauce] for entrée(*) and Arrancini [ricotta and spinach balls filled with mozzarella cheese and sun-dried tomato, lightly crumbed, served on grilled eggplant with napoletana sauce]. Dessert alternated betwen a chocolate walnut cake and a crème brûlée: my neighbour wanted the cake so I, gladly, took the crème brûlée.
Today, celebrating the birthday of a team member, we went down to the local café: I had a chicken, with tomatoes, eggplant, and other assorted vegetables, focaccia, washed down with a lemon, lime and bitters. Mmmm.
As you can probably tell, I've been rather poor at sticking to the Apostle's Fast. I'm trying, but truth be told, not as hard as I should. Life is a bit hard at the moment: I will be around here, and I will be reading your blogs, but I am finding anything and everything a bit of a struggle. Like Max is considering, I'm taking a break from the ship for a while also. Work is very busy, very, very busy, which is probably not helping, but it is more than that. It doesn't seem like depression, though it could be. It more seems like a general malaise and a general struggle against powers bigger than myself. Prayers appreciated.
Unordered asked some interesting questions: I'll try and get to them soon.
God bless.
(*)in the non-North American sense, i.e. the course that precedes the main course : I remember being confused in San Francisco when I ordered an entrée size, and found it larger than I expected! English usage across continents can be fun.
