Thanks for the prayers, support and encouragement: greatly appreciated.

Things are not too bad. Annoying, frustrating...but not as bad as they could be. As I have written before, I do work to live, not live to work, so working on weekends, coming in early and staying back until all hours has taken its toll. I do take pride in my work, however: as St Paul says, 'work as if you are working for the Lord' (Colossians 3:23), and I do try and do my best, and try as best I can to reflect Christ, in all of my doings at work. People there know I am a Christian and a practising one, and it is important to me that I do and give my best: not for them alone, but for God. I suppose that is why I am, perhaps unjustly, so annoyed at the people who were called in to do the project: now they have moved on to new things they are taking no ownership and no responsibility: and I can understand that thinking. As an example, it took me four e-mails to get a simple "No" to my query as to whether or not a module was in fact working as it had been during testing. And, when I got the "No", there was no apology and no explanation given. These things do frustrate me.

I've also hit a rather rocky part of the road on my Christian journey; do you know those times when you see your sinful actions in all their monstrous shame? This is what has been happening of late. It is good to recognise such things as incompatible with a Christian life, and things I need to pray about and make a concerted effort to change: but being so confronted with the ugliness of it all is rather sapping. Prayers appreciated.

On another topic, after three weeks of constant looking, and expeditions to four areas of Sydney today [though as I found another Oxfam Shop, and one closer to home -- I'm sending an e-mail asking them if they've considered opening a store in SW Sydney -- and promptly bought a Green and Black's Maya Gold Hot Chocolate the day was definitely not a waste!], I have finally found a pair of work shoes I like. I have no doubt that now I am over 30 I am beyond any fashion, though as I was never fashionable before it's no great loss, but I truly think this season's range of shoes were designed by people with the brief, "Make them as ugly as possible." I know tastes are different [and no doubt someone looked at the shoes I ended up buying and said, "Ugly!"], but as I looked, for some walking shoes as well as work shoes, I was struck by some very, very ugly footwear. And strange: leather work boots that had velcro rather than a zipper or buckle [velcro on work shoes?]; shoes that looked fine but were instruments of torture once put on(*); and shoes that looked okay, until you looked at the other side only to find a pattern that made them look as if someone had taken a texta to them. Oh well: thanks be to God I found a pair of black dress boots [as in about 12/13cm high, not knee-high in case you were having images!], at a very nice discount (end-of-financial-year savings). Finding a reasonable pair of shoes surely shouldn't be this difficult: though if that is my only worry life is pretty good.

(*)I know many female friends favour looks over comfort: "We'll look good now and pay for it later!"; how they can I have no idea!

My South Park CharacterA final thing for now, thanks to Deeleea (you can see hers here): me as a South Park character (I only watched it once: not my kind of show, but I did laugh quite a bit).
