Thank you all for the kind comments on my haircut/shoes: I feel very suave.
:)

Some wonderful news yesterday at church: our parish will be joining the mission work of St Paul's Coptic Orthodox Church Mission to the homeless in Sydney on Wednesday evenings.

I am so very happy that we are following Christ's command to help those in need. One thing that upsets me about the Orthodox Church is the fact she has not, at least not to my knowledge, got a social and charitable arm in Australia(+) like the Catholic, Anglican, Uniting and Salvation Army, and no doubt many others, churches have here. And, despite my inaction, may God forgive me, when it comes to such support(*), I do think it very important. Thanks be to God for St Paul's mission who have been doing this for a while and are letting us join them.

Please pray for all those in society who need our help.

Please pray for all organisations, church-related and other, who are helping those in need.

And please pray for our little parish, and the work of St Paul's Coptic Orthodox Church Mission, that there may be willing volunteers, and that we will indeed bring not only food, but love and friendship, to those we meet.

(+) having the different jurisdictions (Russian, Greek, Antiochian, etc.) probably does not help co-ordination -- but I think it a necessary thing in a Church.

(*) blame laziness...though that is no excuse: I give money but am not going out and helping, despite a desire to: there is no excuse -- I could've looked up organisations but did not. Thanks be to God for the kick to get me helping -- bringing the opportunity to help right to my parish door.
