A Delicious Dinner

And even better, time spent talking, more than that sharing, with a dear friend: an ex-colleague.

We had not caught up for a while, and after a brief explanation of the impact my trip to Georgia had on me [more blabberings and self-indulgent analyses to come: I'm pre-warning you!], she asked I was free for dinner. She really wanted to find out about this trip which I had expressed, briefly in an e-mail, in such life-changing terms [at least the possibility if I follow through]. It was a blessing to be able to talk to such a gentle and loving soul as my friend is in a deeply personal manner: with my closest friends living overseas, sitting down and having deep conversations, rare as they often are, have been even rarer of late. But that makes them that bit more special.

As well as me rambling on, she shared her life experiences, hopes and dreams. And we discussed all manner of topics dear to our hearts. All the while enjoying a most delicious meal [her: 4-cheese gnocchi followed by lemon sorbet; me: risotto with prawns, brandy, garlic and shallots followed by a vanilla bean crème brûlée -- I think I put back on most of that lost 10kg! :) ]. A true blessing and joy, not only in the sharing of our lives and our dreams for the future, but the very fact of sharing a meal with a friend: there are few, to me, better things in life.
