Gran is getting stronger: the lung infection seems to be going down. And she loves the hospital, the staff in particular. I still tend to think it's the 'beginning of the end' [though we've been saying that for two years]. Not that I'm trying to be morbid in any way: perhaps it is a way of me dealing with the fact she won't be here one day.
Success at trivia last night; seeing 28 out of 40 for the second round didn't fill us with confidence, but apparently everyone else had a shocker too -- we were tied for first. We had a cracker of a third round and won by a reasonable margin. More money for dinner next time.
I saw Stardust earlier in the week: what a fun movie. A good old-fashioned fairy tale. I thought it a bit long, and perhaps a bit drawn-out at the start, but the fun of it all more than made up for that. Robert de Niro's character in particular was a hoot, and I thought Michelle Pfeiffer wonderfully wicked. The talk among the women at work was Charlie Cox, especially in his suit. I'm not sure if it was due to the full moon, but the conversation then moved into old-fashioned outfits, including, by me, a comment on codpieces and how I thought they were due for a comeback. Yes, blame the moon.
Speaking of movies, the Italian Film Festival has started in Sydney. I bought a five-film pass: and as I looked at the tickets I noticed all of the movies I had chosen were rated R - 18+. Is this an indication of my tastes or Italian cinema in general? I'm seeing Apnea, One Hundred Nails (Centochiodi), Manual of Love 2 (Manuale D'Amore 2), The Get Together Dinner (La Cena Per Farli Conoscere) and Saturn in Opposition (Saturno Contro). Looking forward to them.
