Prayers appreciated for our parish, Ss Michael and Gabriel. Our priest resigned Tuesday (!) so we are currently priest-less. Our Archbishop is coming to our parish today; God willing, some news on our future will be forthcoming.
Through the prayers of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel: Lord, have mercy.
Happier news: I had a wonderful dinner at my godfather and his wife's place last night with several other parishioners, and two former parishioners whom it was great to see again. Not only was the dinner fantastic [Lebanese food: always yummy! ; and the chocolate-covered strawberries for dessert were mmmm...], but it was, for me, a wonderful evening to spend time talking and laughing the night away. They showed us photos from their recent trip to South Africa -- looks amazing, particularly the various safari adventures they went on in Kruger National Park -- they did get rather close to many. And the landscape is simply amazing: such a beautiful and rugged land.
The stories turned rather heartbreaking however when they were talking about children and AIDS -- a terrible tragedy in that country, and in Africa as a whole. Lord, have mercy.
As I said, a wonderful night -- we had said no church topics that night and it was pretty much stuck to. I love the people in our parish: I truly believe that we have one of the most loving and caring parishes due to the warmth and generosity of the people. I do feel so blessed. And, no doubt related to this post [and part II will appear soon], but I have such respect for my godfather: not just in spiritual matters but in life matters and relationships with family and friends he is a great example to me of a life lived for Christ. Thanks be to God for his example to me, and may God grant him, and his wife, many, many years!
That afternoon I also said "Goodbye" to my best friend who is returning to the US Monday -- I'll see him in a fortnight though, for a few days when I visit San Jose. Looking forward to that.
