I pray all had a blessed and joyous Christmas Day. A wonderful time was had here, particularly with Skye's excitement at her presents and the celebration of the day. Photos to come when I sort them all out...

It's "goodbye" to my faithful white Lancer, which I bought in mid-2003, and "hello" to my new black Golf, which I took delivery of on Christmas Eve. My Lancer served me well, and continues to go well. It was the second car I bought and the first I bought by myself, without Dad's help. My first bought car was a burgundy Toyota Coralla Seca hatch; my first car was my parents' old Holden Commodore which they kindly gave to me after I got my licence in my last year of High School; it was damaged beyond repair after a severe hailstorm several years after I got it.

My dad's [quite old] Corolla Hatch is pretty much on its last legs; I thought it would be good to give him my car [or sell it and give him the cash to get a new one]: and I could buy a new car. I have always liked the Golf, and while it is a bit more money than I would usually want to spend on a new car, I was rather taken with the comfort, technology and look of it; and when I heard they had black I was sold. I'm enjoying finding out all of its features and what the various buttons to; and I admit I have turned the windscreen wipers on a few times instead of the indicators [the sticks being on opposite sides in European cars].

A nice early Christmas present to myself.
