Dinner with a Friend

Last night at Bach Dang Vietnamese Restaurant. Another friend was supposed to come, but her daughter was sick so she stayed home. She is feeling better now which is good news. We had crispy chicken with noodles and steamed fish of the day with ginger, washed down with coconut juice. Mmmm.

The friend was the groom whose wedding reception I will be the MC at. Having never been an MC I am a tad nervous [I have two books I am reading at the moment] and intended to ask all manner of questions about his, and her!, wants, but we got talking about all manner of things and I only asked a few questions. Oh well: still a month or so to ask.

The bride will be returning to Australia next week and he came back last week; they have been living in London for several years and will go back for six or so months after the wedding and come back to settle in Sydney later this year. It was great to see him again and to catch up on his adventures [trekking in Nepal and Canada among many things] and his life. He got me talking a bit about myself, which isn't hard to do!, and it was good to share some joys, as well as struggles and trials, with him. He truly is a generous, genuine, caring and loving friend, as his bride-to-be, and being asked to be MC at their reception was a great honour. I but pray I can make it the night they want in my small way.
