Goofy Gophers

After my boss and I were being terribly polite, each saying we would stay back late tonight to let a consultant stay back, someone compared us to those Goofy Gophers of the cartoons of our childhoods. Our childhoods may have been separated by 25 or so years but with a great deal in common. If you never saw these wonderful characters, while they did get up to mischief, as cartoon characters are want to, they were characterised by extreme politeness between one another, with comments such as "May I? - Please do!", "It must be you who goes first!".

That then sent us, well me, scurrying off to the Internet to re-live the various animal cartoon characters we remember: from Merrie Melodies' cartoons such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck [one of my favourites], Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, Foghorn Leghorn [according to my colleague who sits next to me I say "Yes" frighteningly similar to Miss Prissy -- I do not know how to take that!?], Sam the Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf and The Tasmanian Devil [always a source of amusement to me here in Oz]. Then you have the many other studios such as Hanna-Barbera [with Huckleberry Hound, Magilla Gorilla, Top Cat and Yogi Bear, all shows I remember fondly from among its lineup], Terrytoon's Heckle and Jeckle, and other cartoons such as Woody Woodpecker.

Fun days.

Here is a Goofy Gophers cartoon, should you care to re-live your childhood, or discover one way I spent mine:
