A film I wanted to see, but one I didn't realise would be as great as I found it to be.
Ellen Page is simply fantastic as the smart-talking take-no-nonsense Juno: I hadn't seen her act before, but I will now be keeping an eye out for her. Michael Cera also plays a great character in Bleeker, and there is a great support cast -- very interesting see Jason Bateman again: I do not recall seeing him since the 80s sitcom Valerie!
Not being 16, and not knowing many 16 year-olds well, I am not sure how true the "yoof speak" is, but I found Juno a wonderfully smart [in all senses] character, and I truly thought the plot, which shows that everything is not always sweet and light, despite appearances, was a fairly solid one. The folk music throughout is also great: I think I'm going to have to look for the CD -- some wonderfully funny and inane lyrics.
4.5 out of 5 for me: go and see it.
