Rain and swimming.

The rain has returned this week: we had a dry spell this morning, but it is back again tonight in its heavy and constant fashion. Please remember in prayer those who are affected by flooding, such as residents of Blacktown in Sydney's west, many of whom still have tarps up from a storm late last year, the family and friends of missing children, and all those affected by the rain and flooding. A beloved colleague at work, who sadly [for us] handed in her resignation and will finish work at the end of the month, had her house flood: and she only recently got all repaired [including carpet] from a flood due to rain last year. Lord, have mercy.

Swimming: Skye had her first swimming lesson Monday. I took the morning off work to watch her, and I will also go on the last lesson [lesson 10 I think]. The instructor was great. There were three other kids learning, and she introduced all of them to the water, played various games and sang songs, helped them float, got them to do a "crocodile crawl" [two arms down at front and body and legs up] across the bottom, had them crawl through a make-shift tunnel on the side of the pool and then be pulled by her in the water, took them round on a floating mattress where they kicked, and caught them when they jumped off the edge. A few tears and calls for mummy from some: none from Skye -- though she kept turning to talk to us and tell us what she was doing, so we had to tell her, "Listen to your teacher!" A few photos:
