A French MP has said he is outraged that the song chosen to represent the nation in the Eurovision song contest has English lyrics.Jacques Myard, of the UMP party, has urged the company that runs most of France's TV networks to reconsider.
Thanks for all of your wishes and prayers. I thought I had made some progress, but I had a terribly restless night last night [characterised by a very strange dream involving another world, evil geniuses, conversations in toilets with café-style booths and an animated monkey teaching an animated hedgehog to swing through trees: complete with fireworks to the number 'Diamonds are a girls best friend' -- I'm not sure what that all means, and am also sure I probably don't want to!] I am not the best today. But still, much, much better -- thanks be to God.
I enjoyed watching Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein while I was laid up in bed Tuesday. I hadn't seen it before -- and am so glad I did rent it. What an absolute riot! Completely silly, completely over-the-top, yet also completely hilarious -- and with some very well-produced scenes and jokes. The actors were fantastic, all of them: and I loved Cloris Leachman's Frau Blücher in particular. The musical score was also very well done. Highly recommended: especially for those days when you desperately need a laugh.
