What a film! I really did not know what to expect, but I am so glad I went along and saw it [and, it being the fourth film I have seen in 3 months, I get my next one free!; one of the many benefits of Club Dendy]. It is an entirely strange, even silly I might say, movie, but also such good fun that I very much enjoyed the ride I was on. A superb cast too, with George Clooney, Frances McDormand, Richard Jenkins, John Malkovich, Brad Pitt and Tilda Swinton among the actors and actresses. And they all had such interesting and fascinating roles to play [Pitt's fitness instructor in particular!] Plenty of laughs, surprises and some 'Oh no!' moments. A great and fun way to spend two hours. Last night I watched, on DVD, the 1995 movie version of Othello. Again, I was not sure what to expect, and I again was impressed. It was a very well-acted and cinematically quite beautiful adaptation of Othello. Kenneth Branagh's Iago is mesmerising, Fishburne's Othello turns menacing and frightening, and the rest of the cast are superb. I may prefer Shakespeare live, but this was another great way to spend 2 hours. I spent a bit of the morning and most of the afternoon looking at clothing and shoes for my trip to the US. I need some new gear for bushwalking and hiking anyway, and with some sales on now is as good a time as ever. In Kent Street in Sydney's CBD there are 5 or 6 outdoor and adventure shops practically next to one another. I also headed up to Chatswood after Burn After Reading to look at some more. I ended up buying some thermals, hiking pants and a fleece jumper; and also got some praise for the use of my ever-decreasing German from one of the shop assistants who came from a town near Munich. Now I think I'll rest the night away either reading or watching House M.D..
