Saturday was a day of feasting and celebration.
Firstly it was up to the North Shore [I took my passport :)] for the celebration of Deeleea's 40th. A truly wonderful afternoon, and a great blessing to be able to celebrate such a wonderful day [and it was a beautiful Sydney autumn day]. Mountains of food, with meat skilfully bbqed by a friend of Dee's and a fine selection of salads. Knowing no-one there, bar Deeleea, I was a tad anxious -- but needn't have been. I got talking with several people and had a grand old afternoon talking about everything from motorcycles [where I listened and asked questions as I know nothing] to Ireland [with a woman from there] to the transferring of the Feast of St Patrick [the same woman] cameras [with a woman with a fancy one] to the South Island of New Zealand [with a woman who had holidayed there]. Any and all topics! I, sadly, could not stay as the afternoon progressed to "Performance Time" [i.e. perform a talent in front of all] -- but I look forward to hearing from Deeleea what happened.
A happy and blessed birthday Deeleea: God grant you many, many years!
I had to rush off as it was off to dinner with mum, my sister and the family for Mothers' Day. It is celebrated on the second Sunday of May here, but as dad had to work today we transferred it, much like St Patrick's feast as mentioned above. Due to a booking late, we had to have an early dinner. More food, more feasting: and a fun time with the family -- particularly my beloved niece Skye who, when asked did she want a colouring book replied, "No...I'm having chicken nuggets!" She also walked around with me and wanted to play. My sister, poor dear, often feels embarrassed by me as I truly have no shame and am happy to sing songs loudly or get up and dance -- no matter where or when. Life is to be lived, say I; but my sister would prefer I tone it down a bit. A very pleasant afternoon out.
To my mum in particular: thank you for everything. I know I was, and still am at times, a ratbag, but I love you deeply and am thankful for all you have done, and still do, for me. And to all mothers -- a blessed and joyous Mothers' Day to you.
