Happy Feast Day!
Today is the Feast of the Transfiguration, one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Orthodox Church. We had an Evening Divine Liturgy last night which was well attended and was a great joy and blessing to attend: reflecting on the events of Christ's life on earth and seeking to understand what each event tells us is indeed a joy.
We had a small supper afterwards [one never goes hungry after services at Sts Michael and Gabriel] and plenty of discussion. Topics included possible locations where our church may move move [our lease is up in November and is not being renewed] to incense and Orthodox shops [a friend had asked me about such things] to mathematical "tricks" being played by the kids on us adults. I am truly blessed to have been a member of so many churches where "community" accurately describes our relationships there -- and Sts M & G is no different. Thanks be to God.
