Yesterday I took my second conversation class.
All of the students came from different parts of China and we had a very informative (for me at least -- I'm sure they knew it all already) discussion about the different foodstuffs and beer available in the different provinces of China. I was told the rice wine in one province is up to 75% proof! 75%! I'd be knocked out for days...
We also discussed the Olympics -- sorry, "The Games of the XXVIII Olympiad" to give it its proper name -- which is increasingly ensnaring me in its grip: I was even fascinated by the dressage several days back. The hilarious programme The Dream is keeping me partly sane, which counters the over-the-top hype being displayed by the Australian media; though humour award of the week needs to go to "The Panel" which played Patsy from Ab Fab's voice over the Cross-Country Equestrian! Her comments fitted perfectly!
