These pretzels are making me thirsty!

Last night I had my first experience of the annual St Michael and Gabriel's Parish Trivia Night. It is timed to coincide with the National Rugby League final (excuse me while I yawn) and it definitely had a league flavour to it. It was held at Strathfield Town Hall which is simply stunning inside -- if only I could find a picture of the interior.

Luckily I was at a table with many followers of the sport, so we scored reasonably well in the league questions. Other topics included the Bible, Church and "miscellany". By far the most popular parts were the "kick a goal through the posts" and "throw the footy through a small hole" competitions. It was great to see not only the men getting up to have a go, but many women, and many women well beyond their 60s, taking a run-up and giving the ball a good kick! Our priest managed a good kick as well.

My main contribution to the team I was on was the answering of the question, "Which show was the phrase, 'These pretzels are making me thirsty!', uttered on; and who first said it?" I gained 2 points for our team. I didn't score any points in the follow-up activity which was to say it in the best voice!

It was a great night and very well organised. Our team ended up coming fifth (I think) out of ten, but to me it was simply wonderful to spend a completely insane and fun evening with my brothers and sisters. God has blessed me with the parish I am at.
