A Very Pleasant Weekend

But much too short, as always: can it be Monday again so soon? At least November started with some rain: please God may it continue. We need it.

Saturday afternoon was a very gluttonous affair, but all in the name of a good cause: the Aids Trust of Australia's Sydney Food and Wine Fair. A friend from Canberra was up for the weekend and we enjoyed a wide selection of food: though I believe desserts [including a divine chocolate and raspberry concoction] featured more prominently in our tastings than mains or entrées.

Saturday evening I had the first meeting with my priest since I decided to see if the Orthodox would have me. ;-) After that was the Vespers service and a continuation of our study on Romans, in which a great deal of discussion was had and in which I came away more informed and challenged than before.

I arrived home to discover my parents had finally worked out how to change the clocks on the VCR, microwave and oven. Unfortunately they were somewhat confused, putting the clocks back an hour rather than forward. I fixed the time. This means we have moved from three timezones in Australia to five [though in October we have four as Tasmania sensibly springs forward at the beginning of October] which can be confusing.

Sunday was glorious as always: Matins and Divine Liturgy, and a very good sermon on the Gospel reading (Lazarus and the Rich Man). One thing I came away with was the thought that I need to consider who is the Lazarus in my life: whether at home, church, work, in my circles of friends...wherever. Who can I help? Who can I assist? May God help me to show compassion to those in need around me.

Sunday afternoon I met some friends for lunch and coffee, and I arrived home quite tired. I managed to stay awake until 11pm to watch an interesting documentary on St Francis of Assisi, before I, at around 11.45pm, entered dreamland.

As you can see, assignments (the due dates of which are creeping up) did not feature. I hope to rectify this soon. Sometime soon. ;-)
