(Thank you to Miss Lisa and Philippa for the messages of support!)
As soon as I sent the e-mail I ducked into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. A few sniggers came from S's (a female) desk. It was then she told me she was doing J's (a male) job and using his login -- and that if she ever had the desire to use the men's toilets she'd flush, replace the roll, and not hoik.
When I got back to my desk, X (the senior manager and hoiker) asked me what the e-mail was all about. I mentioned the flushing and toilet roll issues and said I was tired of it. He then brought up the hoiking and asked who had said it was happening. I said various women had told me they could hear it while in the kitchen and were not overly impressed with it. No more was said. The assistant manager M (female), who suggested the hoiking component of the e-mail, gave me a wry smile and wink as I turned back to my desk.
I suppose I shall see next week if the e-mail has had any effect.
