By far the biggest reception I have ever been to. 650 people. Yes: 650. It was fantastic though.
I missed most of the church service due to my running around and helping out with a few things [my mum and grandma very kindly offered to help make food for the afternoon tea (~200 people) at short notice -- and did a fine job!] It was strange catching up with people from my old (evangelical) church that I haven't seen for a while: a few had raised eyebrows at my journey to Orthodox (naturally), and there were many I found that I now had nothing to say to: an odd feeling. But it was great to see them, and to find out what they are up to.
The dinner and reception was wonderful. The typical 10-course Chinese Wedding meal [fish; lobster; pork; mushrooms & vegetables; soup; quail...] and plenty of dancing. A friend of the female type and I wore masks as we danced (so that we couldn't be recognised for our bad dancing ;-)); I dragged the bride's sister up for a dance (shy people...what can you do with them?!?!); and I caught up with a few more people I haven't seen for a while.
One of the men at my table (who spoke no English) seemed rather amused by my antics, and my dancing at the table to the Cambodian dance that many were dancing to on the dancefloor. He seemed to be extra amused at the fact I had no alcohol, and yet was that talented crazy ;-). High on life: that is me.
A blessed day indeeed. Congratulations N & L! May God grant you many years!
