It's great to be taking the English Conversation Classes again: I missed them! I had eight students today, all from China, and we spent the hour talking about what we did during our holidays. The beach, the city on NYE and shopping featured prominently. A wonderful surprise when I received some lovely Guylian Seashell chocolates from the head of the Independent Learning Centre (where I take the classes) as thanks for taking the classes: yum! yum! yum!
I also picked up my final assignment for the Linguistics subject I completed last semester. Some very nice comments from the lecturer on my work, and especially on my progress throughout the semester: she said she noticed improvement. I also received several "Good attempt!" comments, which I assume to be a kinder way of saying, "You completely stuffed this up, but at least you made an attempt!" ;-)
I then had lunch with a very good friend who will jetting off for a year in England soon. I am quite sad at the prospect of her and two other friends going, but I know it will be a great experience for them. My time working in Dublin was a blessing in many ways: I gained self-confidence; I learnt how to cook (a few things at least); I made many friends; and I began, I believe, my journey to Orthodoxy through exposure to a more catholic form of Anglicanism. I know they'll have a blast!
I'm now back at uni, waiting until 14.15 when I can check with the Postgraduate Office if I am actually enrolled for this coming semester. I have received no notification as yet, so I am slightly concerned.
