Jack wrote in the comments on the "Blessing of the Water" post that, "Your enthusiasm and love for Orthodoxy and how it points you to God always makes me smile". Thank you. I sometimes wonder if my ramblings are just that. And thank you Jack and Tractor Girl [and everyone who reads and comments] for your nice comments.

It has been almost a year since I've started attending my Orthodox parish. It has flown by. And, as Jack also wrote, I think I must stand wide-eyed (hopefully not wide-mouthed ;-)) at times just amazed at what is being sung, or, on special days such as Theophany, what is going-on. That is not to say I never fidget, or feel tired, or get distracted...these things happen, but discovering Orthodoxy has been a great blessing to me. It has given me a faith that, as I've written before, I can run to; a faith that I can embrace. Not without difficulty at times, and not without struggles with my own thoughts and prior experiences. But it has given me the tools I need on this journey that is the Christian life.

Thanks be to God.

St John Chrysostom well described the virtue of prayer. Prayer, he said, is a mighty weapon, an unlimited treasure, independent wealth, a quiet haven, a reservoir of silence; it is the root and the source and the mother of ten thousand blessings.
