The new movie from Jean-Pierre Jenuet, the director of Amélie (a movie I loved).

This movie was very different, but equally as captivating for me. The cinematography is breathtaking. The scenes at the trenches horrific and chilling in their realism: the sheer futility of war, and its horror, came through. The story was so packed and intense, and the theme of Mathide's (Audrey Tautou) undying love for Manech (Gaspard Ulliel) communicates effortlessly. The acting was fantastic: Audrey Tautou was wondrous, and it was very interesting to see Jodie Foster in a French-speaking role.

If you get the chance, I can heartily recommend this film. I'll definitely be seeing it again when it comes out on DVD.
