A friend who lives at Cronulla is doing his Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training, and asked me if I'd be the guinea pig for his Assessment Task component. Always willing to try new things I said, "Yes."
The assessment he created was writing a report from notes taken while watching a business programme on TV. A lot of the finance talk sailed over my head, but I typed it up and it seemed to go okay. His instructions were clear and easy-to-understand, and I appeared to produce what he wanted -- so I hope he scores well.
I was also struck by the differences in Sydney. Cronulla is a beachside suburb, and it is Anglo Central. Growing up where I did, and living where I live, I am surrounded by Asians, Arabs, Eastern Europeans and more... But in Cronulla, lovely as it is, I -- as a Caucasian -- felt so out of place and felt as if I was in a different world. Very odd indeed.
Driving home through the bush between Heathcote and Liverpool, I was struck by the sheer beauty of the full moon that beamed from above and shone its eerie glow on the clouds that sailed in front of it. When no clouds obstructed it, its light lit up the sky around it, and when the clouds moved across its face, a dull light lit them up from behind. God's creation is marvellous.
