Some rather stormy weather is expected to sweep through central and eastern NSW today. Wind gusts of up to 110 km/hr, and on the radio one of the forecasters from the Bureau of Meteorology said rainfalls may reach up to 200mm in a 24-hour period! I'm reconsidering driving into the city for a Tenebrae(*) church service tonight: I'll see what it's like when I leave work.
My second observation day was interesting. The first hour was spent on the computers, looking at pictures of and hearing the sounds of the various rooms in a house and the objects you'd find in each one. We then went to the classroom for some drilling and activities. My first teaching stint [next Tuesday...argh!] will be reviewing the parts of the house and introducing various household objects and getting students to identify them and determine in which room they go. I have a great mentor teacher who has provided me with some ideas, as well as explaining her lessons to me as they progress, and why she does a particular activity, and so on. I am learning a great deal more than I thought I would!
(*) Click here for information on the Tenebrae service; I've never attended one before. The one I'm hoping to go to is at St Francis of Assisi, Paddington.
