I was off to Cronulla tonight, to have dinner with a friend who is heading back to England in a few weeks before moving to South Korea to teach English as a Second Language. He has recently finished a Masters in TESOL [Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages], and is looking forward to the experience and excitement South Korea will offer.
We had a wonderful dinner at a Thai restaurant: various entrées (spring rolls, satay chicken and curry puffs) followed by two mains, which we shared, of a wonderful chicken dish (the name of which escapes me) and Beef Pad Thai. Absolutely delicious! And very reasonably priced. Various conversation tiopics throughout, from his life in Sydney to our university experiences to where we hope to be and what we hope to do in the future.
Despite the wet and cool weather, this was followed by dessert at Cold Rock Ice Creamery where you choose your ice-cream flavour, choose what you want to mix-in with it (anything from macadamias to Mars bars to Carmello Koalas to Gummi Bears!), and then the mix-in is crushed into the ice-cream which is then given to you. They compact the ice-cream so you get more than you generally get with scoops, so there was plenty more to eat and we each went for a size larger than we would've had we known about the compacting! I chose Ferrero Rocher ice-cream with Bounty [a chocolate and coconut bar] mix-in. Yum!
It was then time to say "Adieu", and wish him all the best.
Driving home was rather interesting. A large number of people seemed to forget to dim their lights as they approached me from the opposite direction. The glare was a bit too much at times. But, apart from that, it was a nice drive through a bit of bush and next to a Military Firing Range -- thankfully not much chance of firing at 21.30! There were spots of fog and mist which I always find enjoyable to drive through: the lights dance off the fog. It wasn't thick at all so it was rather pleasant.
[Oh, I have my WISE VictimBuddy: I'll hopefully send the package and post the clue here this weekend!]
