Bbq

While the bbq [barbeque] has been very popular in Australia, I'm convinced that those from the Middle East have perfected it. Attending bbqs at an Assyrian friend's place and now having attended several Lebanese bbqs, I'm not sure I can go back!

Being a beautiful, sunny day, with blue skies stretching above us, I decided to walk to my friend's place. He lives in the next suburb, about an half-hour walk. Coming back, the skies were grey and it was getting slightly chilly, but it was still pleasant. I do enjoy my area. It is suburbia, but it is quiet and there are a few nice walking/bike tracks alongside creeks and through the trees.

As I said above, the food was fantastic. From chicken and beef & onion kebabs to salads to Lebanese bread bbqed with meat inside, it was cooked to perfection. About 20 people were there, mainly from our church, including the sub-deacon who is helping at our parish. I was a bit nervous going [see Dinner #3 post for reasons], but, like Friday night, once I got there all was fine. We do have a great group of people in their 20s, as well as great people of many other ages, and they always take a genuine interest in you and your life. It is a great blessing to have such brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks be to God.

And Happy Birthday W [the friend whose house the bbq was at]: God grant you many, many years!
