One of the limestone structures off the coast of Victoria that make up the Twelve Apostles has collapsed into the ocean. I first saw the Twelve Apostles, well nine of them!, when in 2002 I drove along The Great Ocean Road, headed up to Halls Gap for some bushwalking in The Grampians and spent a few days in Ballarat, home of the famous Eureka Stockade. I basically followed the route on this map.
It was a wonderful week's holiday: the scenery along the Great Ocean Road was spectacular and I even saw some whales from the observation platform at Warnambool. The Grampians were beautiful and a wonderful place to take leisurely walks, whole day bushwalks, or go to picnic areas frequented by kangaroos. I also visited the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Ballarat was a lovely city where I learnt a bit more history, as well as seeing some fantastic mediaeval prayer books in a museum there.
