Holy and Glorious Prophet Elijah

Today is the Feast Day of the Prophet Elijah, one of the greatest of the Old Testament prophets.

Prophet Elijah of great renown,
seer of the mighty mighty works of God,
by your command you held back the rain!
Pray for us to the only Lover of mankind!

We have a similar icon to this one of Elijah at church: the raven bringing Elijah food is found in 1 Kings 17:2-6. I do rather like the one above though, showing Elijah's ascent to heaven.

The article above states Elijah's prayers are often sought for breaking of drought and seasonable weather. Holy Prophet Elijah, pray for us here in Australia as we suffer drought, and for all other areas affected by inclement weather.
