A wonderful Vietnamese dinner with three friends last night at Canley Vale. They dug into some shared fish and a soup while I, who has had a bit of a dodgy stomach of late, stuck with steamed vegetables and some chicken. Delicious.
One of these friends is back from London as he needed a new type of working visa and had to come back here! A rather long way to have to travel. And a nice surprise from him and my other friends in London: loads of goodies à la a WISE pack: Hob Nobs, Jaffa Cakes, a Terry's Chocolate Orange egg, shortbread and Harrod's English Breakfast Tea! It was also great to see two of my other friends who I haven't seen for a while.
Our friend who will head back to London in a few weeks then wanted to revisit a café he liked...but do you think he could remember the name? Or even the suburb where it was? [And he's only been gone a few months!] He described it, but we were unsure. I even rang his girlfriend at work in London to try and get the name of it...and she had no idea which one he meant. So we chose one we thought was it, but it wasn't. Still very nice. I and another friend had Crème Brûlée and the other two had a baked ricotta cheesecake. Yum! Over dessert and coffee we worked out the café he meant: it has been demolished to make way for more parking at Westfields [a major shopping centre chain] so he would've been out of luck anyway.
A wonderful evening: great food, great conversation and plenty of laughs, and great friends.
